Directed by: Martin Scorsese
This is the film which brought Scorsese back to the style of filmmaking that has made him one of my favorite directors. His previous works like Gangs of New York and The Aviator were good only by the directors reputation, but The Departed had the pacing and the energy of those films like Goodfellas and Mean Streets. The Departed has its issues like so many Scorsese films do. Technically, its not perfect but the structure of the story, the quality of entertainment and the perfected performances all speak positively for this movie. It was the academy's pick for the best of 2006 and its my pick for the 12th best of the decade.
